Track & Trace: Transparency Down to the Last Detail
Our comprehensive traceability of all products via Track & Trace ensures that all raw material data, production parameters, and relevant measurement information—including material thickness, surface roughness, lubricant quantity and distribution, and quality characteristics—are precisely documented.
Smart Factory
The production process utilizes a cloud-based infrastructure with real-time data transmission and AI-powered quality control to implement Industry 4.0 as comprehensively as possible. Our logistics processes are also state-of-the-art. Trucks gain access via automatic license plate recognition, while the SAP Logistics app uses RFID technology to identify the pallet or prefabricated component load carriers, including their quantity and contents—all without the need for paper or labels. In addition, work order lists and maintenance tasks are fully integrated into SAP, and the digital delivery note—the final component of this digital transformation—is set to be introduced shortly.

A success story – right from the start
Smart Press Shop GmbH & Co. KG was founded in January 2019. The company was founded as a joint venture between Porsche and Schuler. Porsche pursued the ambitious goal of covering the entire process chain, from design through development and toolmaking to integration into body construction. For Schuler, the collaboration provided an opportunity to develop new innovations and technologies and optimize them under real-world production conditions. The plant data provides valuable insights for driving continuous improvements and forward-looking developments.
The company purchased the site—a 13-hectare plot in Star Park in Halle (Saale)—in April of that same year. After just two months, the building permit was already in place by mid-August 2019, and the construction phase began, progressing further with the installation of the press line in August 2020. The building code approval was finally granted at the end of April 2021, and mass production began on June 1, 2021—starting right away with a highly complex production part: the front hood for the Porsche Macan.
Although we are a 50/50 joint venture between Porsche and Schuler, we operate independently as a supplier and serve both Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers. Our company currently employs 150 people and is known for its innovative spirit and forward-looking approach. The site is ideally suited for sustainable growth, with the option to acquire additional space for a potential expansion of production capacity.
