LBL 2.18 & PXL85

Our state-of-the-art production facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure the highest quality, efficiency, and flexibility.

The LBL 2.18 laser system enables the production of precision laser-cut sheet metal parts directly from the coil, while our PXL85 press line, equipped with six servo stations, forms complex body components made of steel and aluminum. This ensures maximum compatibility with OEM systems.

Training press, autonomous cranes, minimal batch sizes

The high-performance EA25 training press, which has the same design as the PXL85, also enables optimal process development. Two autonomous cranes that handle tool changes without a crane operator ensure fast and efficient setup. We developed this crane system in collaboration with Bang. It consists of two parallel-running assembly cranes and enables the complete changeover of six tooling operations, including universal blanking stages, in under 30 minutes. This allows us to achieve a minimum batch size of approximately 250 strokes. At the same time, this allows us to make optimal use of bottleneck capacities to ensure maximum availability.

IO bus, direct coupling, and optimized setup sequences

Not only is the actual lifting process fully automated, but the other setup steps have also been optimized. This includes the automation of tool spacing, the automatic clamping of the upper and lower tool halves, the automated connection of compressed air, power, and control systems, as well as the automatic adjustment of the date stamp. This was made possible by equipping our tools with an IO bus and connecting them directly to the press control system.

AI Inspection, GOM Measurement Technology & Closed-Loop

In the end-of-line area, a camera-based, AI-powered system from Elunic ensures the reliable detection of broken components. Here, too, we are working together toward the goal of further developing the system so that, in the future, material thinning and surface defects can also be detected automatically and objectively.

Optical measurement methods using three GOM cells ensure accurate quality control and guarantee the highest precision across all manufacturing areas. In addition, we are committed to 100% single-material scrap disposal and have implemented a closed-loop system for all aluminum scrap to further optimize the sustainability of our production.

In collaboration with an IT service provider, our company implemented a fully public cloud-based SAP solution consisting of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and the SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud for Execution. This world-first installation of its kind in discrete manufacturing enables highly transparent plant control with real-time information and sets new standards in digital production.
